Volunteer Facilitators from FNS in action at North West District Meeting 2008 
24 May 2008 - The District Meeting (DM) is an annual platform for North West CDC to present its performances in FY 2007 and to share with key stakeholders the CDC's future workplans. It is also an avenue for the CDC to collect suggestions and feedback from stakeholders. These ground-up initiatives will be formulated into future plans for the North West community. 

This year, the DM took on the theme of a Cafe. Prior to the DM proper, stakeholders were involved in small group discussions on topics based on CDC's three key thrusts; namely Assisting the needy; Bonding the people; and Connecting the community while enjoying a fine cuppa and assortment of treats. Key findings from the discussion were then presented during the DM. About 300 representatives from the grassroots organisations, community and corporate partners attended the event hosted by Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West District.

Foundational Facilitation Workshop (FFW23) (16/07/2008 - 18/07/2008)Code: FFW23

Learning Outcomes:
1. Discern the difference between Consulting; Training; Facilitative Training & ‘Pure’ Facilitation.
2. Confident in deploying the FNS 4D Facilitation Model® in the design and delivery of facilitated interventions.
3. Receive constructive feedback from peers and workshop coaches on the deployment of effective facilitation core
practices and use of basic facilitation process tools.
4. Aware of Divergent & Convergent process tools for Facilitators and confident of deploying at least four of the tools
immediately.
5. Aware of the Process Design for commonly occurring business situations in commercial/non-commercial context
requiring facilitation and confident of designing at least one of them.
6. Confident in using the flip chart and other facilitation aids effectively.
7. Aware of the IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) Competencies and Assessment Process.


Methodology:
The workshop is extremely hands-on. Participants will have to complete self-assessment questionnaires as pre-work and come prepared for immediate application and practice during the workshop. Some amount of ‘homework’ will have to be completed on the evenings of day 1 and day 2. Throughout the three days participants will receive extensive feedback from peers and coaching from Certified Professional Facilitators on their performance as a facilitator. As each day is fully packed with practice and critical learning moments, ‘time –away’ for meetings and other reasons will not be permitted.
